Violin and Viola lessons

from the comfort of your own home!

Every lesson I teach is specifically tailored to the needs of each individual student.

Whether you’re a total beginner, a high-schooler headed to conservatory, or starting back up after a long break, you have your own unique set of strengths. My job is to help you find those strengths so you can experience the joy that comes with getting better at the violin or viola.

  • I have extensive experience teaching all ages. I studied early childhood pedagogy with Joshua Bell’s childhood teacher. I also love teaching adults who want to try something new, or pick up where they left off when they took lessons as a teenager

  • Short answer is yes!

The long answer is usually, with a couple of exceptions. For children under 8, and for more advanced students interested in pursuing music as a career, I would recommend seeking out in-person lessons.

  • Cashapp, Zelle, Paypal, venmo, check, bank transfer

  • Absolutely not! While children’s brains are more flexible, adults can focus and practice more productively because their brains are fully developed. I’ve had students well into middle age who have made astounding progress!

  • You will need a violin or viola, a bow, a case, rosin. If you do not already have an instrument, I strongly recommend renting or buying one from your local violin/music store. I know there are many temptingly cheap options to be found online, but the quality of those instruments is often so poor that it actually impedes progress.

  • It is absolutely worth it! Playing an instrument is like riding a bike. Even if it has been decades, I can help you get back to your original ability level and then surpass it! I’ve seen it happen and it is such a privilege to help my adult students rediscover the joy of making music!
